Maybe all the social/viral/mobile/online hype is not what it is cracked up to be….Here’s a good video from a  Swedish newspaper where they make a good point – somewhat.

Yale Tries an Unconventional Campus Recruitment Video

Posted: under college, online video, university, video, viral.

Not sure why Yale would even need to go to such lengths to promote itself (seeing as they reject 92% of all applicants), but I give them credit for shaking up the status quo of campus tours. After all, getting a prospective student to visit the campus is considered a huge opportunity, and a school’s best chance at conversion. maybe this is just a tongue in cheek way of saying they can have fun at Yale and are just like everyone else…even though they are clearly not (and may, in fact, even be veiling a slight elitism).

Fake Cleveland Tourism Video Goes Wild

Posted: under internet marketing, tourism, video, viral.

Not exactly what the Cleveland Tourism Board was hoping for, but I guess any attention is better than…well not really. I’m sure they are formulating strategies right now on how to compete with the 350,000 views this video has versus the sad 3,500 visits their official Youtube channel received.

Also, the video’s second in organic results when you search “Cleveland, tourism” on Google. Wow. (Warning: this video contains foul words…ow my freakin’ ears!)

UPDATE 5/14: They really pissed off the Tourism Board who asked them to make a nice video in response….So they made this!
